A 12 DAY PILGRIMAGE TO POLAND, CZECH REPUBLIC, SLOVAKIA, HUNGARY & CROATIA

Arrive at the Prague International Airport, where we will be welcomed and transferred by coach to the hotel for check-in and dinner.

 

Overnight stay in Prague (B, D)

We begin our pilgrimage with a visit to the St Vitus Cathedral, Castle Square and Loreta in Hradcany, that consists of a cloister, the church of the Lord’s Birth, the Santa Casa and a clock tower with a famous chime. Later we will walk along the Lesser Quarter to visit Our Lady Victorious Church, where a renowned statue of the Infant Jesus of Prague is present.

 

Overnight stay in Prague(B, D)

After breakfast, we set out on a journey towards Krakow to visit Auschwitz, the infamous German Nazi concentration and extermination camp. You will be deeply moved by the stories of the millions of Jews and Poles who were put to death along St Maximillian Kolbe, who’s cell we will visit and pray at. The martyr saint willingly gave up his life that another prisoner might live.

 

Overnight stay in Krakow(B, D)

We drive towards the home of Poland’s iconic shrine, Our Lady of Czestochowa known famously for the miraculous Black Madonna that is housed within the Jasna Gora Monastery where we will celebrate the Holy Mass. No pilgrim’s visit to Krakow can be complete without visiting Wadowice, the birth place of Pope John Paul II – a saint himself – was the one who extended the feast of Divine Mercy Sunday to the whole Church while also elevating Faustina to sainthood. We will be inspired by his life as we pray at the church where he was baptized and explore the Museum of St John Paul and his house. We continue to Kalwaria Zebrzydowska, to visit a monastery, a popular pilgrimage place for Pope John Paul II as youth and end our day with holistic view of the saint’s life.

 

Overnight stay in Krakow (B, D)

On our second day in Krakow, we take a deep dive into the Divine Mercy story with our journey to Lagiewniki, the home of the Divine Mercy Sanctuary where St Faustina took her final vows as a religious and where the famous original Divine Mercy image resides. We will pray at the tomb of St Faustina and celebrate Holy Mass at the Shrine. Later we will explore the Market Square and visit St Mary’s Cathedral where you may pray before the extraordinary Wit Stwosz altar and see the Coronation Chapel (Wawel Cathedral) and the Royal Chambers (Wawel Castle) where a superb collection of Arras tapestries is on view.

 

Overnight stay in Krakow (B, D)

We bid farewell to Krakow as we visit the Wieliczka Salt Mines, a UNESCO World Heritage Site en route to Zakopane where we will take a cable car trip to the top of Mt Kasprowy to relish breathtaking views. The tour continues with highlights of Zakopane, with Jaszczorowka Chapel that St Pope John Paul II loved and celebrated the Holy Mass and other places of interest.

Start this morning driving through the picturesque countryside to the beautiful city, Budapest. We will stop by a natural spring with a statue of Virgin Mary near the village StaréHory which is a traditional place of pilgrimage before we continue our journey to Budapest, where the well-known Danube River splits the mountains of “Buda” and the plains of “Pest”, underlining an exciting comparison of past and present cultures. Enjoy free time before a delightful cruise on the River Danube.

 

Overnight stay in Budapest (B, D)

After breakfast, cherish a sightseeing tour to see the several romantically elegant bridges over the Danube connecting the former cities of Buda and Pest. We will visit the Royal Palace, Castle Hill, Coronation Church, and Heroes Square. We will visit the Church of St Stephen and conclude the beautiful day by celebrating the Holy Mass at the 13th-century Cathedral of St Matthew.

 

Overnight stay in Budapest (B, D)

We depart Budapest to visit the Shrine of the Mary Mother of God in Marija Bistrica. The shrine has been formally declared as the national shrine of Mary and the prime site of spiritual celebration and contains unique artistic works by Croatian sculptors. We continue our tour to Zagreb, the capital of Croatia for a panoramic walking tour of the city and see Zagreb Cathedral, The Funicular and St Stephens Church etc.

 

Overnight stay in Zagreb (B, D)

This morning we will transfer to the Zagreb airport for our return flight to Australia.
